Today I’m going to be making this fabric coaster. I’ve been seeing these everywhere and I really wanted to make one so I did and I shall show you.

What you’ll need:

  • Fabric
  • scissors
  • template or ruler
  • pins
  • needle and thread or sewing machine.

Method:

First cut out the shape of your coaster onto the fabric. I chose a 4″x4″ coaster so I made my template, pinned it onto the fabric and cut it out. If you wish to add batting to make it thicker you may as well, or just use felt, it’s cute.

Next put your fabrics right sides together and sew all the way round leaving about a 1″ gap. Flip it inside out once sewn, fold in the gap and sew all the way round the fabric to stitch it closed and make it look more professional. If you wish to quilt it that is fine. I decided to hand sew mine, mainly because I’m awful at using a sewing machine, despite my also awful hand sewing.

And you’re done, that’s it! now you have your very own fabric coaster, you could literally make hundreds of these and they’re good for using up scrap fabric. Toodledoo!xx
